oh yes she did.

wear her Nacho Libre mask as she walked down the street.
on the bus. through the lobby of the resort.

to preface this, one of her favorite movies is Nacho Libre.
she adores Jack Black. we find this hilarious.

she got two different reactions from people...
either they screamed "hey! NACHO!!" and clapped for her.
or they looked at us with pity, wondering what was under her mask.
i couldn't have been more proud.

what i did on vacation. by hayden

1. caught a huge sailfish with dad & uncle joe. (this deserves it's own post)

2. took photography lessons from mom.
she didn't even freak out when i jumped from rock to rock with her camera.

ha! a taste of her own medicine.

3. built a sandcastle. or two. or three.

built another one far away from my sister and riley once i learned my lesson.

4. painted figurines with my friends, the old ladies.
dad says i'll make a really excellent old person some day.

5. developed a new swim drill.
if you spill your drink in the pool, you have to swim
all the way back to the bar to get another one.
on our last day, i apologized for charging so many pina coladas to our room.
mom thought it was a good math lesson anyway.

6. rode in taxis with no seatbelts.
this concerned me just a bit. why was everyone else so relaxed?

blowing bubbles.

perfect is not the point.

i'm type A. yes, with a capital one.
i like to nail the focus. find the perfect exposure.
i like to make things just right. the first time around.

i've often considered the fact that photography may not help me in this regard.

but on vacation,
i tend to go for it. shoot into the sun. try anything.
if it doesn't work, oh well.
i know that all i need is an image that reminds us of this minute
when we were together.
when perfect is not the point.
