easy to remember.

michelle. one of my first friends when we moved to madison, and still one of my dearest.
for as long as i have known her, i've been witness to the special relationship she has with her dad.
he's the one who raised her, who loved her most.
years ago, she leaned on him.
now he leans on her.
she wouldn't have it any other way.
he can't remember what he had for breakfast, or even that he had breakfast.
to hear michelle tell stories of their conversations can make you laugh and cry at the same time.
as i was taking these pictures, he whispered to her "i love you."
i hope she never forgets that how he remembered that one thing.
i will always think back to that day with both a smile and a tear,
grateful to have captured this for her.
love you, miss.

preschool skischool.

she was so happy to finally start HER ski lessons! she's an amazing, fearless little bundle of energy on skis.
i am sure someday soon she'll be leaving me in the powder on my comfy green runs, along with her brother.
videos to post, but that may have to wait until we get back...

talent show.

the titanic.
ever since a visit to the milwaukee public museum last spring, hayden has been:
drawing titanic
checking out books from the library on titanic
searching the internet for facts and pictures of titanic
and building titanic figures with legos.

although this idea didn't come to him right away,
it seemed like a natural choice for his second grade talent show presentation.
he was so brave, getting up there in a hot room full of classmates and parents,
talking ever so quietly about this ship he adores.
my favorite shot is the one of him waiting on deck.
to see him pull that folded piece of paper out of his pocket and start preparing to go on stage was priceless.
even we had butterflies.
