under the weather.

she's eaten her weight in popcicles this week.
one of the things we love most about court is her ability
to be this happy with a temp of 102.
i don't think she got this from me.

cole.

this little surprise was waiting to meet us when we returned home last week...
bill & dori were thrilled to welcome cole into their lives.
arriving two weeks early (a gene he obviously did not get from his father!),
he is such a precious, tiny little peanut.
more to come, as i have a date with the newest farrey very soon.

sand in hair. (and everywhere)

a favorite vacation memory:
needing to wash the sand out of her hair.
everyday.
sometimes twice.

la ropa. (i mean la playa. oops.)

forty pesos.

you can buy almost anything on the beach.
never a shortage of peddlers, selling their goods for "almost free".
including (but not limited to) our resourceful son, who tried to get
forty pesos from me in exchange for this portrait.
it was a good effort, but not a profitable one.
goofball.

puesta de sol.

most people who know me will be surprised to find out that i left my camera in the hotel room a lot of the time.
that i barely filled two memory cards, but completely filled my mind.
that i purposefully experienced our vacation with my own eyes a good portion of the time.
that i have a million images like this tucked away in my memory.

i was surprised to find that despite this exercise in restraint,
i still have a million images to rediscover.
probably enough to carry me through until spring.

easy to remember.

michelle. one of my first friends when we moved to madison, and still one of my dearest.
for as long as i have known her, i've been witness to the special relationship she has with her dad.
he's the one who raised her, who loved her most.
years ago, she leaned on him.
now he leans on her.
she wouldn't have it any other way.
he can't remember what he had for breakfast, or even that he had breakfast.
to hear michelle tell stories of their conversations can make you laugh and cry at the same time.
as i was taking these pictures, he whispered to her "i love you."
i hope she never forgets that how he remembered that one thing.
i will always think back to that day with both a smile and a tear,
grateful to have captured this for her.
love you, miss.
xoxo, t

preschool skischool.

she was so happy to finally start HER ski lessons! she's an amazing, fearless little bundle of energy on skis.
i am sure someday soon she'll be leaving me in the powder on my comfy green runs, along with her brother.
videos to post, but that may have to wait until we get back...
