ordinary days.

ordinary days are the best days. my favorite days.
the days when i realize that i would have missed something
if we had other plans written on the calendar.
a conversation.
a spontaneous moment.
a "look at what i can do, mom!".
a question.
i'm scheduling more ordinary days this summer.
for sure. so i don't miss these things.

i read this quote last night for the first time.
it's a thought that runs through my busy mind every single day.
so i had to post it, in hopes that i remember to live it.
because these precious ages of eight and four will soon be nine and five.
and so on.

sugar and spice, everything nice.

brooke. kate. erin. annie. tess.
thank goodness ruthie is funny.
enjoy, b. xoxo

kk.

oh, those curls. jenny's little mischief maker had a very busy day...
pictures to pose for.
chalk to eat.
nursing care to receive.
the story goes:
brooke grabbed her baby and ran while jenny and i wondered what in the world to do. (what good are we anyway?)
and kk sat there, waiting patiently and calmly for us to decide.

(the funny thing about this picture is that i didn't ask them to sit there together for a picture... i heard "traaaaa-ccccy" and turned around to find them waiting for me to take it. i'm thinking their next family session should be a breeze.)

24.

happy 24th birthday to my baby sister, sam.
even though we are half the world away,
i'm lucky enough to get a daily reminder of you.
those long legs and knobby four year old knees.
sparkly blue eyes and strong will.
sometimes just a fleeting expression,
but totally you, nonetheless.
love and miss you much, t

i borrowed this image from her blog...
a friend in burundi took some pictures so we could all see her belly.
she's just weeks away from giving us a nephew!
